Ouch, sorry it's been several months! Christmas was a crazy mess between scrambling to get... uh... *counts* Five hoodies all complete before leaving to visit family! And I didn't fully finish, since I had to sew on ears and details parts while on vacation! Thankfully, the jackets have been a success so far! I've got a couple photos, but I need to pester my photography friend to get a proper shoot eventually once the weather allows for it.

My friends were thrilled with the jackets! That is a definite success. I'm also pleased to say that after having made 5+ of them, it's definitely gotten a bit easier. Or at least I've figured out some of the system. Here's a couple more photos of my friends and I modeling our jackets:

Quick, silly face! |

The jackets I still need to get pictures of: Appa the Sky Bison (from Avatar: Last Airbender), a grey Wolf, and a black Cat. I'm especially proud of Appa, as his arrow markings were a great experiment with spray-painting fabric and home-made stencils. That practice helped me with a jacket my boss commissioned for her teenage daughter...
I give you my latest jacket-creation: The Giraffe!
This was a fun project. I was able to use the fur I had left from my tauren hood, and it was good practice with more extensive painting to get the patterns. The tricky thing was getting it done on a time crunch (Birthday deadline!) and balancing the realism versus simplification of the spots. There was also more bleeding from the paint around the spots, but thankfully it worked for the giraffe pattern.

The horns were a challenge |
The first trick was getting the horns to look like proper nubbins. I went the simplified route, but wish I could have done some more iterations... I had to stitch in the fronts and backs a bit to make them more round at the end. Also when I first put them on the hood, they stuck out too much to the sides. I had to add a stitch along the inside to bend them into a more upright and properly giraffe position. Still, I'd say this was a good success. The design turned out pretty well and I learned plenty too!
Until next time... when there shall be different fleece (gasp!) and Pokemon?!
